Citroen Racing have scheduled a press conference in Versailles today, but every indication is that there's more going on than a celebration of Sebastien Loeb's eighth World Rally Championship crown.

RallySport Magazine were the first in the world to reveal (on September 12) that Sebastien Ogier appeared almost certain to defect from Citroen and join the Ford team in 2012. And since that time, the rumours have continued to gain momentum, to the point where it would now be a surprise if Ogier DID NOT join the blue oval.

Over recent days, the story has gathered considerable momentum, and it now appears likely that not only will Ogier move to Ford, but Ford's WRC runner-up, Mikko Hirvonen, will make a direct swap with the Frenchman and drive for Citroen in 2012.

There are also suggestions that Nasser Al-Attiyah may drive a third factory Citroen next year, with backing from Qatar.

Then there's the talk of a two-car Solberg team for brothers Petter and Henning, but in what car nobody seems to know, while Kimi Raikkonen appears likely to head back for another stint in Formula 1.

What is crystal clear is that the silly season is about to kick into top gear.
