Saturdays heat one at the National Capital Rally Canberra was always going to be tough for the Hilary's Hotel Rally Team as an off road excursion in qualifying for the power stage put them behind the 8 ball with no real competitive miles under their belt so they were up against it.
With a fully repaired car, Will and Adam hit the forest with the aim of a top 5 result, but also keeping in mind their spares package had been depleted after Fridays excursion, so there was a cautious mindset heading out.
At the main service after the first 2 stages the team sat 2nd overall at the midway point. With no issues to report the team headed out for another go at the mornings stages.
The second pass of the stages saw improved times by Will and Adam, continuing their consistent run with a strong 4th outright at the completion of heat 1.
"4th outright is great, we were only 5seconds off 3rd so we know we are on pace, and we were the first RWD car home. We took the wrong tyre choice after the service and that hurt us in the end, still we hit our top 5 target so we can't be too unhappy" said Will after today's stages.
Tomorrows stages are out in the Kowen forrest, these roads are looking to suit the silva as they are long open fast flowing roads, these roads will be in huge contrast to today's tight twisty roads. Either way the boys will be keen to put on a show.
