Ostberg considers WRC2 entry for Rallye Deutschland

The OneBetJipocar team is considering entering Mads Ostberg in an R5 car, not a World Rally Car, for Rallye Deutschland.  

Team principal, Morten Ostberg, said this is only an idea at the moment and a decision will not be made for several days.  

Three reasons are behind the question.  

Firstly, there are financial implications, as the costs of running their 2017 model World Rally Car are proving much greater than anticipated.  Secondly, there are commercial reasons, because OneBet is to expand their rally based gaming operation into the WRC2 sector at Rallye Deutschland.  

Thirdly, there is uncertainty, as led to their withdrawal from the Tour de Corse, whether there will be sufficient chances to test the car for asphalt rallying, and therefore whether sufficient special parts will be available.  

Plans for the forthcoming Neste Rally Finland are proceeding as scheduled.
