The NEC Australian Rally Championship today announced a change in the way in which points are allocated for all events in the ARC this year.
For 2007 points will now be allocated from 1st to 20th position in each Heat on the basis of 40, 34, 30, 26, 22, 20, 18, 16, 14, 12, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1. Previously only the top 10 placings scored points.
This will ensure that those competitors who finish just outside of the top 10 places, and who previously received no recognition, can gain points towards the Championship and have something to show for their efforts.
It is expected that this will give greater encouragement to Privateers and allow them to show their sponsors what they achieved during the year.
