Many Australian rallying fans will remember the left-hand drive Subaru Legacy RS Turbo station wagon that Possum Bourne used as a recce car for many years in the Australian Rally Championship,

The car, which was also used by Ari Vatanen, Colin McRae and Richard Burns, is now up for auction in New Zealand, with a starting price of just NZ$10,000.

This car, registererd RJ6680, is one of two LHD wagons delivered from Japan to New Zealand in 1991 for the 555 Subaru World Rally Team to use as recce cars. Another turbo wagon, SA2022, was added in 1993 for the Asia Pacific championship (a championship that RJ6680 was also used in).

RJ6680 is the only reece car remaining from this era (the other two having disappeared!).

The first event for RJ6680 was the 1991 Rally of New Zealand. RJ6680 was used by the 555 Subaru World Rally Team for every event on the Asia Pacific Championship and World Rally Championship rounds in the Asia Pacific region during the '93, '94, '95 and 96' seasons. These events were Indonesia (5 times), Malaysia (4), Thailand (4), China (4), NZ (4) and Australia (4).

In 1996 and 1997, RJ6680 was also used as a support car for the team.

The car was also used extensively by Subaru Rally Team Australia throughout the Australian Rally Championship up until Possum's death.
