After lengthy discussions and meetings, the Queensland Rally Advisory Panel has decided to postpone state-level rallying indefinitely for 2020, while committing to reviewing the changing landscape. While not the only state to suffer from the cancellations, Queensland is the first state to outline their makeshift plans for the series. In a letter to the Queensland rallying fraternity, Gerard McConkey of the rally panel explained the difficulties of the situation.

“Taking into account travel restrictions, social distancing requirements, public gathering limitations and exposure risks involved in the preparation and operation of a large scale rally, the net result is that the first two rounds of the 2020 QRC have been postponed,” McConkey said.

“The preparations for round four (Mundubbera) have also been suspended.

"If the measures the Government has put into place are effective and a satisfactory containment of COVID-19 is achieved, we would look to re-activate at least two state championship rallies in the latter half of the year," he added.

"Consideration is underway by the Rally Advisory Panel into what structure the championship will take."

With the situation changing rapidly, the rally panel will meet consistently and will continue to update their teams and crews as news comes to light.

“The Queensland Rally Advisory Panel will be monitoring events closely over the next few months, and will receive further advice in late April,” the statement concluded.
