The proposed first round of the 2008 City Subaru Queensland Rally Championship has been delayed as a result of high rainfall and flooding in the northern NSW area.

The Amalgamated Glass Border Ranges Rally was scheduled for Saturday, April 5, and based in the small town of Urbenville.

The Gold Coast Motorsporting Club has advised today that while the rally route appears to have held up well to the recent flooding, the rally HQ based in the Urbenville Showgrounds is water-logged and inaccessible.

While there is still one month to the event, forecasts are for more rain and it is unlikely the venue will be available as a result.

The organising committee made the decision in the last 48 hours to postpone the popular event until later in the year.

A new date for the event is to be determined and published as soon as possible.

The 2008 state championship will not commence until the local round of the ARC at coates Rally Queensland on June 21 and 22, meaning some Championship competitors will not have rallied since November 2007.
