With another day of torrential rain falling on Stage 11 of the 2013 Dakar Rally, organisers decided to cancel racing for cars and trucks.

That has left the competitors – including Bruce Garland and Harry Suzuki and their Isuzu D-MAX – just driving (transporting) from La Rioja to Fiambalá in Argentina.

The crew is still trying to sort out an issue with the car. What was originally thought to be an electrical problem on Stage 10 is now believed to be the result of a poor quality batch of diesel that has damaged the fuel system.

While the bikes and quads got through the stage before it was cancelled, none of the cars and trucks did. That leaves Garland/Suzuki’s outright results still to be resolved in the wake of the late finish on Stage 10 and the lack of a result for anyone for Stage 11.

The team will be talking to the organisers when they arrive at the bivouac, but are optimistic they will be able to start Stage 12.

The two-week-long event ends in Santiago, Chile, this weekend.
