Entries are flooding in for Rally Bonnie Doon, round one of the 2008 Victorian Club Rally Series.

Despite entries only opening on February 18, over 30 entries have already been received, and it looks likely that the 70 car field limit will be reached well before the close of entries.

Starting and finishing at the Bonnie Doon Hotel, competitors will face 90km of stages over forest and shire roads, all in daylight. The event will be fully route charted and service crews will again be able to watch the action from the easily accessible spectator points.

Crews in the 2007 rally rated last year’s event as one of the best they have competed in, and event director, Scott Spedding, and the North Eastern Car Club, are keen to give them more of the same in 2008.

The rarely-used roads in the Strathbogie Ranges offer a good mix of undulating, tight and twisty roads, as well as fast roads along the top of the range, which offer something for all types of cars, and all levels of driver ability.

“The roads have all been freshly graded, so crews should have perfect road conditions for this year’s event,” Spedding said.

While competitors are urged to get their entries in quickly to avoid disappointment, officials are also required to ensure that the event runs safely.

Anyone not competing, but who still plans on attending the event, is urged to contact the officials co-ordinator, Mark Richards, on (03) 57251 530.
