East Coast Bullbars (ECB) has announced it will be the major sponsor of the spectacular new opening round of the Bosch Australian Rally Championship at Calder Park near Melbourne next March, with the new event to be known as Rally Calder presented by ECB.

The backing of Rally Calder follows ECB’s announcement that it will also be the naming rights sponsor for the new Australian SUV Rally Challenge.

CEO of the Bosch ARC, Scott Pedder, says the initiative by ECB to become involved in rallying as both a sponsor of the new SUV Rally Challenge and Rally Calder is a major plus for the sport and for the company.

“ECB has clearly seen the potential and opportunities the Bosch ARC is offering and embraced the sport at a time of expansion and rebuilding and we welcome them to rallying,” said Scott Pedder.

“ECB is an industry leader and its fantastic to have them as our partner for Rally Calder, an event that represents be a giant step up for the sport in Australia,” he said.

“With growing interest amongst manufacturers and privateer teams the Bosch ARC is attracting increasing attention from a range of companies and ECB is one organisation that has recognised this.

“Rally Calder presented by ECB will bring a whole new range of spectators to the sport of rallying and to motor sport and we are billing the weekend as Melbourne’s Festival of Speed,” Scott added.

According to CEO of ECB, Ray Smith-Roberts, the opportunity to sponsor Rally Calder dovetails perfectly with the company’s backing of the new SUV Rally Challenge and will increase its  branding and awareness in the automotive marketplace.

“We believe rallying is going places as a sport and its profile will continue to increase over the next the few years particularly with a growing number of manufacturers coming into the sport,” said Mr Smith Roberts.

“Rally Calder is going to be a true festival of motor sport, attracting enormous interest across a wide spectrum of fans and ECB is proud to be a part of it,” he added.

Rally Calder presented by ECB will run from March 1-4 hosting the opening round of the 2012 Bosch ARC, the inaugural round of the ECB World’s Best Alloy Bullbars Australian SUV Rally Challenge, as well as a tarmac rally, a massive multi discipline Car Club Challenge, trade displays and a Side by Side Challenge.

The entire event will be run within the boundaries of the Calder Park complex north west of Melbourne allowing spectators to catch all the action within a short walk of the car park.

The Bosch ARC competitors will cover more than 120km of competitive stages over the three days of competition embracing both gravel and tarmac stages with spectacular jumps and a range of challenging conditions including the formidable high banked Thunderdome oval.

Tickets for Rally Calder presented by ECB will go on sale through Foxtix in January with a number of further initiatives and attractions to be announced in coming weeks.
