Ballarat's Arron Windus was getting all set to debut his Possum Bourne liveried Subaru Impreza WRX last month, then the Coronavirus pandemic hit. Now, eager to defend his Victorian Rally Championship title, Windus has been left to polish his pride and joy, waiting patiently for these crazy times to end. RSM: Where are you holed up during this lockdown? Arron Windus: Mostly balanced up between work and home at the moment. Thankfully business is traveling along better than expected which keeps us busy. RSM: Who's in the house with you? AW: For me it's a quiet household, just myself living at home, so I've been used to my own company lately. RSM: What are you doing to keep amused during these strange times? AW: I am keeping fit and working hard still on my race crafts while I balance a busy working day. I'm trying to avoid going into a holiday mode, so once we are back to normality and racing, there is no delay! We will be ready to go'. RSM: Do you have a simulator close by to keep you entertained? AW: I sure do! I've been fortunate enough to have been racing on a sim from the age of 9. It has been a massive influence on jumping into the car at a later age and brought me up to speed rather quickly. But of course for now it's filling in time. RSM: Are there any cars and tools there for you to play with? AW: There's always something to do luckily. We have the rally cars in Ballarat for the moment so we will have them scrubbed up into shiny condition and enjoy some fun in the backyard RSM: What are you missing most about not being able to get out and about? AW: There is too many to name! I'm always out exploring when I can and enjoying some down time with family and friends. Not having that and racing has been different to adapt to. RSM: What are the three most used apps on your phone at the moment? AW: Definitely Instagram and Facebook have been popular, but the music apps have been getting a work out as well. RSM: Do you think we'll be back rallying before the end of the year? AW: I have everything crossed and keep faith. I believe we will, but as far as retaining any form of a championship or season will be tricky. I think by then we will take whatever we can get haha.
