Rallycorp, the commercial arm of the Australian Rally Championship, is pleased to announce the appointment of Errol Bailey to its Board of Directors. Bailey will bring extensive experience to the position with a background of corporate governance in a publicly listed company, combined with extensive motor sport experience as a competitor and key official at events across the country.

As a former navigator, Bailey was a consistent top ten finisher in the Queensland State Rally Championship and fully appreciates the pressures competitors are under participating in our demanding the sport.

Outside of the car, Bailey has been committed for many years to the administration of rallying, not only in Queensland but across Australia, holding senior positions at Rally Queensland, Rally of South Australia, Rally of Canberra, Rally of NSW, Rally Tasmania, Australian Safari, SunCoast Classic Tarmac Rally, Classic Adelaide, East Coast Targa, and Targa Tasmania.

“In recent years I have spent more time working in the administration side of the sport than in the car and am currently on the Board of the Brisbane Sporting Car Club, and that club’s delegate to the QLD State Council of CAMS,” Bailey said. “I also spent 15 years as a member of the Queensland Rally Panel including ten years as Panel Chairman,” he continued.

Alongside these numerous appointments it is Errol’s 17 years as the Event Organiser and Clerk of Course of Coates Rally Queensland that led to his recommendation to be appointed to the Rallycorp Board.

“The administration of the sport faces significant cost containment and regulation simplification challenges to encourage participation at all levels of rallying, but to deliver on this agenda we must also attract a sustainable level of commercial support and this is where through my professional and sporting experience that I believe I can make a contribution to the future health of rallying in Australia”.

Soon to retire as Company Secretary of Capilano Honey Limited, Errol will have more time to devote to his duties as a new Board member and is looking forward to the challenges presented by the role.

“The ARC is still a fantastic platform for new brands and businesses to promote themselves and my aim will be to increase those sponsorship opportunities and returns for all stakeholders even further” he said.

Bailey joins existing board members, Chairman Mr Stephen Ashton, Mr Steven Chopping and Mr Ben Rainsford.

“Errol’s appointment to the Board continues the renewal of the sports administration. He brings the commercial acumen, sporting knowledge and enthusiasm to ensure we have the right capabilities in place to address rallying’s future challenges in Australia,” said Ashton.
