Plans for this year’s Rallye Burnie are starting to materialise with the likelihood that the event will run to an ARC-like heat format on September 22 and 23.

The Tasmanian tarmac rally will have a central service park situated at Waratah, south west of Burnie, and will utilise the ‘roller coaster’ roads of Hellyer Gorge and Savage River, with a few new short stages near Yolla as well.

A feature for spectators will be a planned spectator stage around the slippery streets of Waratah.

The entry fee for the event is likely to be around the $1900 mark, and new event owner Les Walkden is planning some major improvements to the event.

Respected ARC clerk of course, Ross Tapper, will take the reigns of the event, while former Rally Tasmania Promotions owners, Tony and Anne Wright, will continue to be involved in the running of the rally.
