The RallySport Magazine Australian rallying survey is producing some interesting results, with competitors and rally fans having their say on many aspects of the sport.
So far over 250 people have given their thoughts on the state of rallying, from the length of ARC rounds, to the biggest deterrents to competing, and the administration of the sport.
Most people believe that a range of cars should be eligible for the ARC, with less than 3% of readers keen for a “front-wheel drive only” championship. A further 19% prefer a 4WD-only ARC, while only 7% of readers want a championship for rear-wheel drive cars.
Over 40 per cent of respondents believe that Australian Rally Championship events should have a distance of 250 kilometres or more.
In fact long events seem to be what people want. Over 12% of people believe ARC rounds should be 225km long, while a further 32% believe that 200km is a good length for a round of the national championship.
Thoughts on the management of rallying in Australia has also produced some enlightening results so far.
Fifty-seven per cent of respondents believe that the Australian Rally Commission are either out of touch or need to do better, while a whopping 82% rate CAMS’ administration of rallying as either ‘average’ or ‘poor’.
It’s not too late to have your say and be a part of the survey.
