The championship gets underway with Supaloc Targa Adelaide from August 22 to 26, and is followed by Targa High Country in Victoria from November 9 to 11, Targa Wrest Point in Hobart from February 2 to 3 and finishes with Targa Tasmania from April 16 to 21.
While the company has been involved in individual Targa events in the past, the new sponsorship deal will see RDA Brakes as a major partner for the whole championship.
The company will also have naming rights to the Modern competition at both Targa High Country and Targa Tasmania, as well as for all four rounds of the new Regularity series, to be known as RDA Brakes Regularity.
Championship director, Mark Perry from Octagon, is delighted that RDA Brakes is showing its support for the series.
“The championship is still young, and having a major automotive company get behind it, to help us build it, is really pleasing, and obviously helpful” Perry said.
“While Targa Tasmania is 21 years old, the other events are all relatively new, having only come on-line across the past four years.
“Our competitor numbers are strong but, as we grow the championship, we need companies who see the value in it as well. RDA Brakes clearly does, and we will work with them to produce very positive outcomes for everyone involved.
Rotors & Drums Australia (RDA) commenced operations in Melbourne as a trade and retail parts supplier in 1987.
Today, RDA is the largest supplier of disc brake rotors and brake drums in Australia and New Zealand, with a range of parts to suit over 1800 vehicle applications.
RDA Brakes Managing Director, Les Smith, is delighted to be involved.
“We have worked with Targa before, but this is a new level of commitment for us,” Smith said.
“The championship really is a showcase of motoring history. And no matter what the era of car, from the classics right though to the latest and greatest, RDA Brakes is sure to have the vehicle’s braking requirements covered. So it is a good fit for us.
“The Targa series is an exciting, growing product, being very well marketed around the country. We’re very pleased to expand on our exiting support of motorsport in this way.”
