Brendan Reeves and co-driving sister, Rhianon Smyth, will drive for the Mazda Motorsport Team in the new Targa Championship which gets underway next month.

The Targa Championship will consist of Targa High Country in November, Targa Wrest Point in January and Targa Tasmania in April. Reeves and Smyth will compete in all three events, with the backing of Mazda Motorsport, in a Mazda 3MPS.

The Targa Championship now only allows 2WD vehicles to enter the Showroom Class and Reeves is hoping his previous experience in the car will help him to secure an excellent result.

This weekend the pair will head to Mt Buller in Victoria to do their reconnaissance for the upcoming Targa High Country.

Reeves said, “When writing our notes this weekend it will be critical to get every detail as this is a brand new event with stages never rallied on before. There is a mix of 15 stages in and around Mansfield, with the spectacular Mt Buller road being used up and down for the first time."

Reeves and Smyth have a busy month ahead with recce for Targa High Country this weekend, they then travel to Spain to compete in the Pirelli Star Driver Shootout, held at the World Rally Championship round, and finally return home to tackle Targa High Country from November 5-7.
