It's 40 years since the famed Repco Reliability Trial took place, so what better time to look through our bookshelf for some original memories?
The 1979 Repco Round Australia Trial was one of the last great Round Australia adventures of the “rough as guts” format and is remembered for the event-winning performance of the all-conquering Holden Commodores.
Over three weeks, the field of over 200 crews blasted their way around Australia in an anti-clockwise direction, gaining the most media coverage for any similar event ever held.
Bill Tuckey and Tom Floyd followed the event around by car and light plane, and were on hand to see the action, the heartache, the bitter arguments and the jubilation at the finish.
