Despite breaking a driveshaft in their Subaru Impreza on the penultimate stage, Robison and Wright managed to hold their place to finish second outright for the event and second in both heats of the Victorian Rally Championship section of the rally.
After a cautious start in the new car, the team began to lay down a serious challenge to leaders Nathan Reeves and Scott Spedding, which was unfortunately derailed by the driveshaft issue on stage seven.
Reeves, also in an Impreza, dominated the event, with Robison hot on his heels for second. Finishing in third place were Peter and Michael Taylor from Canberra in a Corolla Sportivo. Warren Lee took fourth place, with Matt Swan and Timothy Falvey tied for fifth outright.
“We are very happy with the result,” said Robison, considering that this was the first event for the newly rebuilt Robison Engineering Subaru Impreza. “This was also the first time we have run on the new RS&SP suspension and 99R brake pads.”
Both products performed fantastically for the team, leaving Jesse and Adam looking forward to their next event on July 18. The George Derrick Memorial Rally is the third event on the Victorian Rally Championship calendar and is based out of Avoca, 185km from Melbourne.
