The awesome sounding VW Polo S2000 is ready to scream into action on the upcoming  4WD World Border Ranges Rally organised by the Gold Coast Tweed Motorsporting Club.

Team Principal and driver, Marius Swart, relocated from South Africa where he was also a Rally Driver and brought his VW S2000 rally car with him. Last year Marius was unbeatable in the Qld rally championship events but due to series technicalities was not able to claim the state title officially.

The team has worked tirelessly to sort out the gear selection gremlins that has troubled the team this season and commented:

“With a little but of luck we may even have the Powershift working on the car for the 1st time since it landed in Australia, which should make our gearshifts up to 10 times faster than before and with longer gear ratios specifically for this event we have increased our top speed from 164kmh to 194kmh.This should bring us a lot closer to the much more powerful turbo charged cars.

The team will be able to compete in this event with support from Bryan Byrt VW and Brakes Direct.

Robert Felesina, General Manager of Bryan Byrt VW described the Polo as: “Directly in line with the cutting edge technology and excitement of our range of vehicles available in today’s market,” and Brakes Direct director, Greg Latham was thrilled by the opportunity: “The Polo S2000 is an incredible piece of machinery, and represents Brakes Direct’s philosophy of only supplying the best products”.

The Polo has undergone its customary meticulous preparation and is in mint condition for the upcoming event. As always it will be a crowd pleaser and one of the favourites as it screams through the special stages.

Marius Swart and co-driver Gerard McKonkey are thrilled to have Bryan Byrt VW and Brakes Direct on board and said “With these partnerships we would hopefully be able to put the Polo at the front of the field and make our sponsors proud to be associated with our team.

“Our main opposition for outright honours will come from Ian Menzies & Rob Bishop who both drive Mitsubishi EVO6 turbo cars,” Marius said.

The team would also like to thank Hankook Tyres and Advision Graphics for their assistance and especially Brett’s Automotive Brendale.

The 4WD World Border Ranges rally starts from Woodenbong Showgrounds at 12pm on Saturday, August 25 where spectator guides can be located. Go to  http://www.gctmc.org.au for event details.
