South Australians Guy Tyler and Zayne Admiraal are joining forces for Rally Australia, creating a rather special partnership. Zayne is the current South Australian Rally Champion driver and achieved this lifelong dream at the last round of the CAMS Australian Rally Championship (ARC), the Adelaide Hills Rally. Whilst an accomplished competitor behind the wheel, Zayne isn’t afraid to jump into the navigator’s seat with 2015 SA Rally Champion, Guy Tyler. The pair first teamed for the 2017 edition of Rally Australia, but early problems with Guy’s Datsun 1600 put a premature end to their event. “Even with our problems we had a lot of fun and worked well together at Rally Australia 2017. But I know we will certainly be tackling this year’s event with a whole lot more speed and ambition,” says Admiraal, who is looking forward to getting into Guy’s newly built Evo 7, run by the Independent Air Solutions Rally Team.

Guy too tasted success at the Adelaide Hills Rally, winning the South Australian Rally Championship component and finishing an impressive 4th overall in the ARC. “It was great to get back behind the wheel of a proper car after a few years out of rallying and I was relieved that I still have what it takes to fight at the top,” Tyler said. “Coffs is my all-time favourite rally, the combination of amazing roads, stunning scenery and having the WRC circus in town makes it an unforgettable week. “I competed in the first Rally Australia at Coffs in 2011 and have done the event every two years since. 2011 was the only year I have actually completed the event without mechanical dramas, so my main goal is to make sure we get to the finish, but I won’t be taking it easy!” Guy and Zayne are seeded third in the ARC and will be chased by three very quick G4 specification cars from the Activ Rallysport stable in what is shaping up to be the best field the ARC has seen all year. “I can’t wait to let our new Evo loose on the Coffs stages and I have to thank my team, Independent Air Solutions (IAS) for going above and beyond to give me the best car possible for this event” The IAS Rally Team’s Evo 7 has had a major gearbox overhaul and front LSD installed by South Australian Gearbox specialist, Neat Gearboxes. The car performed well in a test earlier this week and a new livery for Rally Australia is set to be unveiled in the coming days. Make sure to visit Guy, Zayne and the IAS Rally Team at the Rally Australia Ceremonial start at the Coffs Harbour Jetty Foreshore on Thursday evening to get your signed poster!
