Hall's Datsun 240Z collided with a stalled Lamborghini Gallardo at the start of a sportscar race on Sunday, with Hall flown to Melbourne's Alfred Hospital where he later passed away.
Peter and his wife Margaret were both honoured with Order of Australia Medals earlier this year for their services to motorsport.
Hall was a former chairman of CAMS’ South Australian State Council and had been an active competitor since the 1970s.
Peter's son, Dave, was a finalist in the Australian RallySport News Junior Rally Challenge in the 1990s, and still competes in South Australian events.
