World rallying legend and current leader of the gruelling Dakar Rally, Carlos Sainz, has revealed that his 12-year old son has virtually no interest in rallying.
Sainz devotes much of his time to the racing career of his son, Carlos Junior, who will this year compete in go-karting championships in Spain and Italy.
In 2006 young Carlos finished third in the Catalonian Championship, won the Madrid championship and claimed third place in Italy.
But according to his father, the 12-year old does not currently have his sights set on a rallying career.
"His interest in rallying is nearly nil," says a disappointed Sainz Snr. "My son’s idol is Fernando Alonso..."
