This year’s Bega Valley Rally will feature an invitational challenge for ‘Classic-style’ two wheel drive cars called the Sapphire Coast Classic.
This invitational challenge event will run at the front of the main State Championship field in the same way as the Classics ran at the Bega Valley Rally in 2006 & 2007 and in numerous Australia Rally Championship events over recent years.
The Sapphire Coast Classic cars will run at one minute intervals (as dust problems are very limited in mid-June) over the full course of 10 stages and 191 competitive kms, starting at 7:30am on Sunday 10th June at the Snug Cove Wharf at Eden.
“Regulations similar to those used in the past, and in the Australian Rally Championship, for the conduct of the category will be adopted. Two-wheel drive vehicles manufactured prior to 1 January 1986 are eligible, and will be included at the invitation of the organisers. They will NOT be eligible for State Championship points and any crew of a classic car entry seeking points must be entered in the relevant category and be seeded amongst the main field accordingly.
