SACHS Rally Team driver Steve Shepheard has declared he will go all out to win the final four-wheel-drive Bosch Australian Rally Championship title.

Shepheard has unveiled a fresh look to his Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X ahead of the season opener – the East Coast Bullbars Rally Calder next weekend.

“Our goal this year is to win the 4WD ARC, and anything less than that is a failure on our behalf” said Shepheard.

“We have been stepping up the pace for three years now, and with 2012 being the last year that the 4WD’s are eligible in the ARC, we are sure we have the package to aim at number One.

“Every single thing we do this year in the ARC events is directed towards one thing, being top of the pointscore at Rally Victoria in November, plain & simple”.

In its fourth year associated with the team, the SACHS Corporation has stepped-up its support.
“SACHS is very proud to once again be the naming rights sponsor of the SACHS Rally Team,” said Product and Marketing Manager of ZF Services Australia, Lars Mehlan.

“Last year the team recorded some fantastic results and exposure, and I’m certain that they will once again be at the top of the time sheets in season 2012”

This year the team welcome partnerships for not only SACHS, but Oztec Suspension, ALBINS Transmissions, WHITELINE, Project Mu, Accord Body Works, Custom Exhaust Specialists, MTQ turbo’s and PWR.

“We like to update the livery each year, and with a few new partners coming on board, we have been able to give it some new colour and shape,” said team manager Reg Shepheard.

“But the aim is always to make the signage easy to read, and appealing to the eye, especially for TV.”

Team principal, and Australian motor sports legend, George Shepheard has been working hard on the off season to improve the car package.

“After a complete rebuild we have lightened the whole package by just under 60kg as well as developing a few little bits & pieces, so we are ready to go,” said the senior Shepheard, who has three ARC titles to his name.

“As a team I think we have as good a shot as anyone, so it’s time for us all to focus everything on that goal.”

East Coast Bullbars Rally Calder starts Thursday night March 1st.
