Citroen boss, Pierre Budar says a hydraulic pipe was to blame for his lead driver, Sebastien Ogier's downfall at Rally Spain. “The problem for Sébastien was damage to the hydraulic pipe which let the fluid come out. It was a pipe itself that was damaged. We don’t know why. We investigate. It was not stone or rock damage, it’s not clear how this happened and it’s not something we’ve had before. “It’s a very straightforward and simple pipe that we have used and use on all of the cars for many years without any specific problems. Nothing was touching the pipe. We have to understand more on this.” It's clear that it is not the result the French mark were looking for, and therefore means titles will have to wait until 2020. “This was not the rally we excepted. It’s been very difficult and a very bad result. We are very sad we have not been able to fight for the title for the complete rally. “We faced some technical issues and it was over very early in the rally for Seb. We’re not here for that, we’re here to be able to fight stage by stage. This is not acceptable and we have to work if we are to fight for the championship next season. We have to find solutions to get all our problems solved. “We have a lot of development ongoing and some new components for Rallye Monte-Carlo and, for sure, a few coming in the season to make sure everything can be at the best level for the complete year in 2020.” Citroen have tested some radical aerodynamic changes which are expected to be on the car for round one next season.
