After a few years on the sidelines brothers Justyn and Steuart Snooks have teamed up to run the potent Pure Motorsport Plus Datsun Stanza. This car is a replica of the famous and distinctive Marlboro Stanza used by Shekhar Mehta to win the East African Safari in 1981.
With the help of sponsor Inkjet Wholesale, the pair will contest the upcoming Blacksmith’s Inn Rally at John’s River on the mid-north NSW coast on December 1st.
The pair ran their first event at the recent Southern Mountains Rally on the Sapphire Coast of far south NSW, using the event as a shake down for the newly rebuilt car. Older brother Steuart was the driver at that event but the two will swap so that younger brother Justyn drives at the Blacksmith’s Inn event.
The car was originally built a few years ago by Justyn for a Pure Motorsport Plus customer who has subsequently commissioned the building of a replica of the mighty Nissan 240RS in the same Marlboro colours. As a result, Justyn acquired the Stanza and has spent the last 2 years rebuilding the Stanza alongside the new 240RS.
The brothers are looking forward to a competitive run to end the year, in preparation for a full season in 2013. It will also be one of the rare times the families get together - Justyn is travelling down from the Gold Coast for the event with his wife and 4 kids while brother Steuart makes the trek up from Melbourne, bringing father Tom and son Andrew Snooks along with him.
The sibling rivalry inside and outside the car will be an add attraction to the sideways action in the forest!
