Like Rally Australia, the Rally de Espana (Spain) has been dropped from next year's World Rally Championship, despite its event not having been run yet in 2019. The Spanish event has chosen to be included in the first rotation of the World Rally Championship, as the result of the decision of the FIA to introduce rotations in the calendar to allow for the entry of new countries. "The RACC, official organiser of the event for the past 55 years (the last 29 editions as an event counting towards the World Championship) has signed an agreement with the WRC promoter securing the organisation of the scoring round in 2021 and 2022," an event release announced. "For the RACC, within the context of the rotation system that will be introduced from now on, affecting all organising countries, the fact of guaranteeing the staging of the event for two years is a positive circumstance, as it allows to start working immediately towards this horizon. "This decision will provide the Club with more time to get more institutional support and more sponsors to fund an event that, considering its complexity and demand, requires a huge financial effort." The RallyRACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada, Rally de España, will be staged this year from October 24 to 27.
