Victorian rally driver, Glen Raymond, has been impressive in this year’s Australian Rally Championship, in which he drove a Toyota Corolla. To finish off a great season, Raymond has been nominated for the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS) Motor Sport Personality of the Year.
This award recognises competitors who are excellent ambassadors for Australian motor sport through their conduct both on and off the track. The competitors must not only be personable, but be a good role model and a fair competitor. Previous winners of the award include V8 Supercar driver, Craig Lowndes and TV personality and racer, Grant Denyer.
“To be classified as one of Australian Motor Sport’s personalities is awesome,” stated an enthused Raymond. “And being recognised as a fair competitor and good role model is something I’m really excited with.”
Sixteen other motor sport drivers from different racing genres have also been nominated, with the winner to be chosen through a public voting system on the internet.
