A stick through the radiator of his Subaru WRX Impreza STI forced Brendan Reeves to retire from yesterday's Akademos Rally whilst leading the event.
Reeves was competing in the Victorian Rally Championship event to fine tune his preparation for the final round of the Australian championship to be held next month. He and co-driver, Tom Ryan, were leading the event when a stick went through the radiator, forcing their retirement on Stage 2.
"It was really disappointing to have to retire from the rally," Reeves said. "I really enjoy the roads used in the Akademos Rally and we were off to great start but these things happen in motorsport."
Reeves' focus will now turn to Rally Victoria, the sixth and final round of the ECB Australian Rally Championship to be held on November 14 and 15. He is currently just 27 points behind series leader, Scott Pedder, and is still a chance to take the Drivers' title for 2014.
