John Stilling and Frank Brookhouse entered 2006 with a commitment to securing an unprecedented fourth ACT Gold Cup Championship for the driver, and the first for the co-driver.
Interestingly, Stilling has also won a Gold Cup as a co-driver. They also wanted to perform well in the NSW State Championship, one of the toughest rally championships in Australia.
At the National Capital Rally in Canberra, the final round of both championships, the plans came to fruition. A first outright in this hard fought NSW and ACT round saw Stilling and Brookhouse aspire to secure the ACT Gold Cup and a fine third overall in the NSW Championship for Stilling, and second for Brookhouse.
The final rally result was emphatic, with Stilling winning all but three of the stages in the rally.
This outcome was based on strong preparation by the Reliance Automotive team, strong support from his dedicated service crew, lead by Michael Taylor and Ian Moon, and fuels provided by Martini.
“No one should underestimate the contribution of the Martini Race Fuel to our success,” Stilling said. “The Martini products are easily the best I have used and have the added advantage of little of the odour of some fuels, as well as being affordable.”
