The Subaru Challenge Award (SCA) is for drivers in Subaru Impreza WRX STI GRB-model cars homologated to 2011 FIA Group N regulations. The new incentive will feature a round-by-round and end of season prize fund and is open to all competitors registered for the P-WRC as well as guest drivers nominated by the individual event organisers.
Registration is free subject to the completion of various entry requirements and competitors can register for the entire season or by the Monday prior to each event they contest.
STi will administer the award, which will be coordinated by Mike Corner under the supervision of STi Group N Project Manager George Donaldson and STi Chairman Hiroyuki Karamatsu. Makoto Shimamura has been appointed SCA Technical Manager. North One Sport, the promoter of the World Rally Championship, will provide promotional support.
Hiroyuki Karamatsu, Chairman of STi, said: "Having previously supported the Subaru Incentive Award from 2006 until 2009 we wanted to create a new incentive for our existing and new customers in the P-WRC as a means of recognising their ongoing and much valued support. In conjunction with North One Sport we have created an exciting new initiative that will further reward our customers as well as creating an additional competitive element in the P-WRC."
Patrik Flodin, a long-term STi customer and frontrunner in the P-WRC, added: "This is very good news. We are planning to do the P-WRC again next season in a Subaru and of course this will help because money is always a problem for drivers like me. Subaru already supports me but this is something extra and it should make more drivers consider using the Impreza in the P-WRC."
