It was a successful day for the MRF Tyres M-Sport Fiesta R5 with Gaurav Gill and Glenn Macneall showing their pace on WRC Rally Italia Sardegna. It was an important day for the team to gain valuable data on the hard MRF Tyres as the typically warm and sunny conditions returned to Rally Italia Sardegna. Gill and Macneall started today’s stages under the Rally 2 rules ensuring that they could concentrate on stage times and learning about the car. Gill was happy with his performance and the performance of the tyres throughout the day. “The mental approach is different here as the roads are incredibly tough. There are ruts and rocks - whatever you can imagine, it is strewn across the road,” Gill said. “We have to drive to the conditions while still pushing. To demonstrate how tough the roads are, we had a broken wheel rim. “The tyre survived but the rim was broken - that is how rough the stages are and shows the strength of the MRF Tyres.”

The highlight of the day for the team was fourth on the "Cittá di Ittiri - Coros" test and showing positive split times through the longer stages. As typical in WRC competition, the MRF Tyres squad had to deal with changing stage and car conditions. Gill and Macneall concentrated on getting the through the stages, learning more about the car and competing in the World Rally Championship. “It has been an eventful day with a lot of learning and understanding the MRF Tyres on the rough roads here in Italy,” Gill said. “It is a perfect way to understand the tyres and the product that we need to be fast. We have had a good day and I drove as fast as I could and we had some fast split times.” The Sunday stages for Rally Italia Sardegna features two loops of two stages with a total length of 42.04 kilometres. The conditions are expected to be considerably warmer than today but the roads should be smoother.
