Suzuki is well down the track with development of the SX4 WRC for its entry into the 2008 World Rally Championship.  The car has undergone extensive testing on rough gravel roads in Southern France to test its durability on road surface conditions that are similar to those it will face in the WRC.

The SX4 WRC has proven to be very quick, and is reportedly quite easy to drive.  Next up will be tarmac testing, in order to have the car tested against all possible rally conditions.

Under the direction of ‘Monster’ Tajima, the Suzuki Sport team also includes Michel Nandan, as technical manager, and Nino Frison, as chief designer. Nandan has previously worked with various WRC teams including Toyota and Peugeot. Frison has developed his construction expertise in a range of competition fields, including WRC, F1 and DTM.

“With the team capability now greatly boosted by Michel and Nino, we are keen to develop the SX4 WRC into the world’s best WRC machine in the near future,” Tajima said.

“With our experience, coupled with their experience, I have no doubt we will be able to make our car the most competitive in the field.”
