Popular Victorian driver, Luke Sytema, has confirmed his intentions for a full Victorian Rally Championship assault in 2020, after purchasing his first 4WD rally car. Sytema, who is consistently seen campaigning a Ford Escort, will campaign an ex-Ford Australia Fiesta S2000, a car that was run in the Australian Rally Championship in 2007 and 2008. After sourcing the car from New Zealand last year, Sytema is aiming for a year of learning, as well as lots of fun out in the forest. “It will be my first time driving a 4WD rally car, so I’ll be learning along the way,” Sytema said. “I’ve always rallied with fun as the number one priority, and this car will hopefully mean I can have even more fun, while also being competitive.” Having barely driven the car, he is hoping to draw on expertise from both Brendan Reeves and Darren Windus.

The car's preparation for the 2020 VRC is coming along nicely.

“Brendo (Reeves) offers driver training on his property, so I’ll plan to test the car there and also get some tips on driving a 4WD car. “Darren (Windus) was the last person in Australia to drive this particular car, so his advice will be invaluable." “My daughter, Renee will be jumping in the silly seat, so I’m looking forward to learning with her and going forward as a father/daughter team,” Sytema added. While the car's new look is yet to be announced, fans are sure to hear the S2000 before they see it, as it will instantly become one of the best sounding cars in the field.
