Twenty-six crews participated in the track day, which provided an important opportunity to complete all important vehicle set-up in preparation for the event.
QUIT Targa West Event Director, Bob Schrader, said the day was well attended by teams and guests, who all got a sneak preview of the type of action to be expected when the event gets underway on September 4.
“Purchasing an individual track day is often an unrealistic situation for teams, yet it is an important part of preparation. By putting on these track days we hope to provide teams with an opportunity to have a better experience at the event,” he said.
Kevin Simonsen, who will be running a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VII in the modern competition of QUIT Targa West, said: “It’s an invaluable time for the competitors and their sponsors to be in the cars and feel the experience of tarmac rallying. The day was very successful and a credit to the professionalism of the QUIT Targa West organizers.”
Along with the opportunity to shake down vehicles, the track day also provided teams with the opportunity to invite their vehicle sponsors, family and friends along to experience the thrill of tarmac rallying.
“Over 140 people attended the day with sponsors and guests given the opportunity of a lifetime, receiving rides in some of the fantastic cars that will be competing in September,” Schrader said.
