Last weekend saw the Queensland rallying community band together and show their support to Queensland's Childhood Cancer Council by providing a ride day at Camp Crystal 90km north west of Brisbane at Aratula in the Scenic Rim for kids suffering from cancer. Â This year saw a record line up of 23 cars including two vehicles from the Australian Off-Road Championship traverse a 2.0km stage across the entire day at 30 second intervals in the name of providing an escape from the day to day dramas and pain these children face. There are many activities at Camp Crystal and the rally initiative has been running for well over 5 years and has become highly acclaimed and appreciated by everyone from the camp organisers to the carers and volunteers. Â The highest acclamations come from the families and the kids that have all become touched by their rally experience. Any of the nervous apprehension on the childrens faces at the start of the ride soon subsided and turned to smiles and ended by hopping out of the rally cars buzzing with excitement. Â For the rally drivers and their crews, the volunteers and everyone that made this event possible and such a successful day, this was thanks enough. Against all odds and adversity to see the unbridled, intangible emotion of excitement and passion for life in these children, and through the Qld rallying communities efforts, these special kids will have there rally experience memories forever.
