The team at Baker Motorsport had a very eventful weekend during the weekend’s Capital Rally of Canberra.  With a cautious start on Friday night in Bluetts with a 31st placing, Ray Baker was looking forward to the familiar stages of Oakey Creek and Mineshaft first up on Saturday morning.

With a good start through Oakey Creek, the pacenotes were flowing well and the little Charade was on song, but it all came to a sudden stop on the third last corner of the stage with a corner that should have been noted as a R3 instead of an R4.

“Over we went, three times, causing a fair bit of cosmetic damage to the Charade,” Baker said.

Luckily the team had the same shape Charade as a recce car and the decision was made to fix the car and get it back out there for Sunday.

The Baker Motorsport team stripped the recce car and after a mammoth effort, the rally car was finished at 11pm that night.

The car ran strongly on Sunday, with a slightly shaky driver, but finished and gained some points.
The car will now go in for a full rebuild before the next ARC event.

Baker Motorsport would like to thank their sponsors: NSW Bearing Supplies, Bold Hair Scullin, Solartec Renewables, and especially the guys at Carco Exhaust for their faith and expertise in getting the crew back out there.

“We’d also would like to thank the Rally of Canberra organising team for putting on such a great event,” Baker said.
