Australia's top rally team has chosen Hymer's S-Class 830 motorhome to give its teams a competitive edge during events.

The Toyota Racing Development (TRD) rally team is using the Hymer as a sanctuary for its drivers, away from the noise and frenetic activity of the rally service park.

Team principal and three-time Australian Rally Champion Neal Bates says providing somewhere quiet for drivers to relax and focus their thoughts on upcoming competitive stages is important.

"At the top echelons of motorsport the difference between coming first and second is often dependent on the driver's psychological state at the time," he said.

"It's really important to have a quiet area where we eat, drink, rest, shower and think about event strategy.

"The motorhome is also useful for those all-important meetings with sponsors and the media," he said.

Hymer Australia's sales and marketing manager Richard Towson said the superior quality of the Hymer motorhome complemented the winning abilities of the TRD team.

"Hymer's S-Class is a top-of-the-range, premium outfit combining the luxury of leather upholstery and modern designs with plenty of space and comfort," Mr Towson said.

"The TRD team has plenty of room to sit around the ergonomically designed dining table, which features a unique two-level design allowing one tier to fold away to increase aisle space," he said.

If the team needs to throw together a quick meal, the motorhome can easily accommodate them. Its well-appointed kitchen includes a three-burner gas oven, refrigerator, extractor fan, roller-mounted chrome drawers, 160-litre water tank and an option to fit a dishwasher.

One of the most basic requirements when in the bush is access to a bathroom, and the S-Class delivers premium amenities including a flushing toilet, sink, shower, large mirror and a vanity unit finished with stainless-steel taps and handles.

A 15-inch flat-screen television comes standard in the S-Class 830.

The Hymer S-Class 830 motorhome is built on a Mercedes-Benz chassis and is powered by a 2.7-litre, five-cylinder Mercedes-Benz turbo-diesel engine producing 116kW.

Hymer's patented PUAL inject-moulded construction is married to the company's Adhesive Bonding System to unite the entire shell with the chassis, increasing strength and reducing noise.
