Privateer Toyota Corolla drivers Glen Raymond and Stewart Reid are both well-prepared for the Rally of Queensland and have spent time working on their cars and themselves.

Raymond, part of the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS) Driver Development Program, has been at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in Canberra, working on his mental and physical preparation for rallying.

“Obviously the team have spent time fixing the car since we sustained damage in Queensland, but I went to the AIS and for once spent some time on myself, working on my mindset and fitness,” Raymond said.

“Everyone spends time on their cars, but we often forget to work on the person actually driving them. It is good to step back and focus on driving, as to be a fast driver you have to have more than just a fast car and a lot of skill.

“You have to have everything sorted in and out of the car to get the maximum possible out of yourself.

“However, we are also doing pre-event testing for the first time in Queensland so that is exciting and will help me gel more with the car.

Queensland-based Reid has fixed the electrical problem that halted his Group N (P) Corolla in Canberra and is looking forward to competing in his home event.

“The TRD Rally guys found the electrical problem that unfortunately stopped us in Canberra so we are excited to head to our home event with a fully-fit Corolla,” Reid said.

“We are testing with TRD on Tuesday and will test again on Wednesday to fine tune me in the car.

“Queensland is my favourite rally and I know the roads so I am just hoping to do really well.”
