Discussions are underway to hold a two-day Victorian state round in the later months of 2020.

The majority of events in the first half of the season have been cancelled, and organisers of the Yarra Valley Stages have begun discussions into running a two-day state championship round to make up for lost time.

Despite being in the early planning stages, and permitting a return to normality, the rally would be close 300km competitive.

"With the current situation with large gatherings and COVID-19, the 2020 Western Victorian Crane Trucks Valley Stages organising team have spoken to the VRP (Victorian Rally Panel) chairman about running a 2-day VRC in the event the world gets back to some normality," the statement on social media said.

The 2-day event would assist in getting a minimum number of events into the calendar to constitute a championship season.

"The idea will be to run approx 120 kilometres competitive on the Saturday (Ben Cain, Acheron Way) and the traditional Valley Stages rally on the Sunday."

If the rally were to go ahead it would reflect an event similar to that of the old Rally of Melbourne.

Mentioned in the statement was the potential of a Thursday shakedown day and Friday recce day.

The rally's organisers are looking for competitor feedback on the suitability of such an event on their Facebook page.
