Vale: Mark Armitage

The South Australian rallying community is mourning the loss of respected competitor and businessman, Mark Armitage, who has died suddenly at the age of 36.

Mark will be best remembered as the owner of Autosport in South Australia, a business he took over after the death of his father, Mike.

Good friend and fellow competitor, Jack Monkhouse, is one of many shocked by Mark’s death.

“Mark was one of my biggest sponsors for a very long time and my cars have run his Autosport signage from the word go,” Monkhouse said.

“My first rally car was bought from Mark’s dad, the late Mike Armitage, and Mark used to compete in that Datto 1200 coupe before I purchased it to compete in the 1999 Australian Rallysport News Junior Rally Challenge.

"He was a major South Australian rally supporter, helping many crews and events, and a great mate to many," Monkhouse added.

At this stage the cause of Mark’s death is unknown.
