Australian Rally Championship Chaplain, Dave Vaughan (pictured far right), was recently honoured at the CAMS Evening of Honour, with the Australian Motorsport Official of the Year award for 2012.

The night was attended by some of the greats of Australian motorsport, including Sir Jack Brabham, Larry Perkins, Craig Lowndes, Chris Atkinson and many others.  FIA President, Jean Todt, was also in attendance, along with Kate Lundy, Federal Minister for Sport.

2013 also sees Vaughan celebrate 25 years in the Motorsport Chaplaincy ministry and this year begins his fourteenth year as Chaplain with the ARC.

“It was an honour to be recognised by the motorsport community, but more importantly for all the motorsport chaplains across Australia,” Vaughan said.

“We enjoy serving the motorsport community, ensuring the health and wellbeing of competitors, officials, service crews and family members.”

On accepting the award, Vaughan also acknowledged his wife, Narelle, who has been a stalwart supporter of his work for the ultimate benefit of motorsport.

Vaughan continues his role on a full-time, volunteer basis and raises his own support to cover travel and related expenses.
