The 2011 Exedy Victorian Rally Championship Novice champions, Scott and Tom Wright, will be teaming up with Gunnawyn Motorsport in 2012 with the aim to win the Victorian Hyundai Excel Rally Series.

After successfully campaigning their R31 Nissan Skyline in 2011 the team decided that with Australian rallying making the transition to an era of front wheel drive cars there was no better time than the 2012 season to develop a better understanding of front wheel drive rallying.

It will be an exciting challenge for the Rocket Racing pair who has learnt to harness the rear drive attitude of their Skyline over the past four years in Autocross events and then Rallies.

Driver Scott Wright is jumping at the chance to get behind the wheel of the Excel at Round 1 of the Hyundai Excel rally series, the Begonia Rally based around the forests of Ballarat.

“I am really looking forward to the Begonia and competing in the Excel series this season, I always kept a close eye on the series in 2011 as my closest rival in the novice section was Excel driver Andrew Thompson who always put the pressure on us to perform.”

With the Victorian Hyundai  Excel rally Series having grown in each year that it has run it will be a great opportunity for Scott to test his skills in a very different car with a competitive group of drivers all using the series as a stepping stone to bigger and better rallying opportunities.

“It will be great to race in such a competitive series where the driver is the main difference between each of the Excel teams.”

The Rocket Racing team would like to thank Gunnawyn Motorsport for the opportunity compete in the  series in 2012.
