Australia's most promising young rally and female drivers will once again be able to nominate themselves to be considered for the 2007 CAMS Rally and Women's Driver Development Programs, with nominations opening today. Â
The self-nomination approach has been chosen to encourage Australia's young driving talent to be proactive in the pursuit of their motor sport careers. Â
Launched in 2004 following a successful pilot year in 2003, the programs are designed to facilitate the development of Australia's most promising rally and female motor sport competitors. Â
Drivers wishing to nominate for the 2007 programs must meet specific assessment criteria including age, past driver performance and demonstration of an interest in pursuing an international career. Â
The successful 2007 squad members will be announced in mid-November, which will be followed by training camps at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in January and June 2007.
Although the curriculum will be updated for 2007, the camps will remain focussed on elements of nutrition, physiology, psychology, strength and conditioning and media training. Â
