Five former World Rally Champions were at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. How many do you recognise? All were due to make demonstration runs, but Miki Biasion was unlucky as the Lancia Delta S4 he was due to drive was spectacularly crashed by the car’s owner on an earlier run. The special Volkswagen electric ID R car broke the outright course record in the hands of Romain Dumas. Fastest car on the special gravel rally car course ShootOut close to the FoS hillclimb was the unusual Proton Iriz R5 of Olly Mellors. Fastest laps by guest WRC drivers were Elfyn Evans (Fiesta) ahead of Mads Ostberg and Esapekka Lappi, both in C3 WRC.   = = = = Published on Friday, the entry list for Neste Rally Finland, the ninth round of the 2019 World Rally Championship, shows 65 entries. Hayden Paddon is to run under competition number 20, while Craig Breen, also making his debut in the 2019 WRC series, has number 42. There is only one non-championship World Rally Car entry, this is for 48 year old Jouni Virtanen, in a Fiesta run by the team of former WRC driver Janne Tuohino. = = = = Overshadowed this year by the clashing high profile Estonia Rally as the pre Neste Rally Finland test event is the popular Autoglym Rally, a stand-alone non-championship fixture based at Tampere. Total entry is 159 crews, but this year without star international drivers. There are only R5 cars, while Jan Solans drives an R2 car. = = = = French champion Yoann Bonato held a slender lead on the Rallye Aveyron Rouergue – Occitanie, fifth round of this season’s French national series, when he went off the road three stages from the end. Fellow Citroen C3 R5 driver Yohan Rossel won the event and has now gained maximum points on the last three events, taking the lead in the championship. Skodas of Nicolas Ciamon and Sylvain Michel were the other podium finishers.
