The seventh running of the Willall Pilatus Mount Alma Mile Hillclimb, to be held on March 28-29 at Inman Valley in the Southern Fleurieu Peninsula district of Hindmarsh Valley, looks set to go down to the wire with entries received from the most recent winners of the event.
One of the most successful hillclimb competitors in Australia, Kevin Mackrell, took it out in the 2014 Mount Alma Mile whilst revisiting his own record and smashing it in the process. His V8 powered Datsun 260Z “hybrid” J may have what it takes in 2015, however there are quite a few prepped and gunning for him.
Mackrell’s battle will not be an easy, with a diverse range of contenders keen to keep him away. Julian Newton has entered in Sebastian Lip’s AMS Alpha 12 powered Willall Pilatus Nissan R35 GTR, which has a range of clever solutions to make it an even more wicked contender. Nick Streckeisen, the winner of the 2014 Willunga Hillclimb, will also be showing up is his R35 Monster, with mind games between the two in full swing.
2013 winner Kevin Weeks is back in his Supaloc Racing Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera, which, rumour has it, will be fitted with a twin turbocharger setup in his bid to claim back victory at Mount Alma.
The Variety Club are welcomed onboard once more as the official charity of the Willall Pilatus Mount Alma Mile, and will be on-location providing a barbeque and cold drinks for the duration of the two-day event. All catering money raised will go directly to the Variety Club.
