Pedders Suspension Rally Team driver, Tom Wilde, is eagerly awaiting the next round of the Bosch ARC, Scouts Rally SA. Although it’s the closest rally out of his home state of WA, Wilde has never competed in the event.
“It’s one that I have always wanted to do, a lot of West Australians make the trip every year and bring back a lot of praise, particularly of the roads and the amount of spectators,” Wilde said.
He is excited to get back behind the wheel of the RaceTorque Built Evo X on the smooth fast roads of South Australia.
Wilde is pleased with the new stages that have been changed in the event; with about 40% of the roads being new, he suggests that it will be more of a level playing field.
“I’m not concerned about my lack of experience at the event, we have put even more work into our pacenoting and I am confident we can attack the stages.”
In addition to the generous ongoing sponsorship from Pedders Suspension, Wilde welcomes a new sponsor to the team, Verandah Apartments, who offer luxurious 4.5 star apartments in the heart of Perth. Owner Nick Clements responded to Wilde’s plea for funding and has offered to cover the cost of accommodation for the team at the remaining rounds.
“This will be a huge help in our bid to finish the season as every cent counts in the race to the finish,” said Wilde.
Interestingly, Nick is a new competitor in the sport himself and competes in the Western Australian Clubman Cup in a Hyundai Lantra.
At the half way point of the season, Wilde currently sits second in the championship standings, with only two points separating Tom Wilde and Lee Tierney, from the brother and sister duo of Michael Boaden and Helen Cheers.
