Â
The event is set to be monumental as thousands of fans travel far and wide to witness some of Rallying’s greatest drivers compete in memory of McRae. WRR will be there in force to bring all the action to listeners and McRae fans around the world via wrc.com.
Â
Colin’s father, Jimmy McRae, who will be competing on the event is looking forward to the weekend…
Â
"We are really excited about this year’s special tribute version of the Colin McRae Forest Stages and are extremely grateful to the international drivers who have kindly agreed to compete out of their respect for Colin. We are expecting record levels of spectators and the fact that World Rally Radio is broadcasting live from the event will mean that those in Colin’s worldwide fan-base who are unable to make the trip to Scotland will be able to feel a part of the proceedings," Jimmy said.
Â
The broadcast will begin at 0845 UK Time on Saturday 27th September and will be hosted by veteran broadcaster Greg Strange. Two stage end reporters will be out in the field interviewing drivers and providing local colour – Colin Clark, WRR’s regular reporter and rallying expert George Donaldson, who joins the team for this event.
Â
Greg Strange says it is an honour to be part of the event…
Â
"Colin McRae was a legend to Scotland, to Britain, and to motorsport. No-one who witnessed Colin on a charge will ever forget the excitement he brought to the stages. I think it’s wonderful that so many former stars of the sport have chosen to compete on the McRae Stages, and World Rally Radio is honoured to be there with them. We won’t have the sophisticated timing systems of WRC, but we will have the spirit of the occasion to carry us through. And we want your memories too – radio@wrc.com."
