With well-practiced precision, the World Rally Championship teams unpack containers and assemble their service park areas in preparation for this weekend’s Repco Rally New Zealand.

Setting up inside the main pavilion at Mystery Creek Events Centre, each of the six WRC teams – Suzuki, Citroën, Subaru and the three Ford-backed teams – will be ready to work on their cars within a few hours of their shipping containers being opened.

The Production World Rally Championship (P-WRC) and other Kiwi and international entrants in New Zealand’s round of the 2008 FIA World Rally Championship are also completing their set-up outside the pavilion.

The inside and outside service areas at Mystery Creek Events Centre will be home to over sixty rally teams for the next week with the rally itself commencing with a ceremonial start on Thursday 28 August before three days of rally action through roads in the wider Waikato, Waitomo, Otorohanga, Raglan and Franklin districts.

Teams are busy with final preparations on Tuesday and Wednesday while the driver and co-driver pairings are completing their reconnaissance of the rally route in what are essentially road cars.  Thursday morning sees the rally cars with their drivers in action on a special shakedown route at Mystery Creek Events Centre.

The service park at Mystery Creek Events Centre offers rally fans a fantastic chance to see some of the world’s best technicians at work throughout the event.  Fans can stroll through the entire service park with grandstands specifically constructed in front of each WRC team to ensure excellent viewing opportunities.
