Mads Ostberg risked having his WRC2 Pro victory at Rally Catalunya erased after a technical infringement with his Citroen C3 R5. During final scrutineering the intercooler of Ostberg's winning car was found not to be identical to the one shown in pictures taken during the homologation process. The stewards heard from the competitor's representatives, and during the hearing it was explained that they had changed their supplier for this intercooler. All parts coming to Citroen from suppliers are inspected and compared to the photographs shown on the homologation form. According to the Steward's report: "This particular detail of the intercooler is not shown on the photograph included in the car's homologation form and the difference to earlier versions was therefore not noticed during these inspections. Even though the pictures referred to in the "Facts" section above are not included in the homologation form, they are equally authentic for the conformity of the vehicle, as stated on the first page of the homologation form. After due deliberation the stewards concluded that this error is due to the quality control process. Nevertheless, a breach of the regulations had occurred. The penalty is applied on the competitor as per Art. 27.2.1of the 2019 FIA WRC Sporting Regulations." The results remained unchanged, but Citroen Total were issued with a 10,000 Euro fine.
